John 20

Today we read John 20. In the most amazing event in human history, Jesus Christ–100 percent man and 100 percent God–defeated death by rising from the dead. In so doing, He defeated your death too. All who believe in Him will spend eternity with Him in heaven, as real physical people in a new heaven and earth. We Christians can look forward to a wonderful future. And it is only possible because of what occurred on that first Easter morning!

John 19

Today we read John 19. Jesus is crucified–for your sins and mine, and for the sins of the whole world. Why was this written down? So that you may believe (verse 35)…

John 18

Today we read John 18. Sadly, the disciple Peter denies Jesus three times. We will read in John 21 that, after Jesus has risen from the dead, He will forgive Peter three times. Jesus always forgives us if we repent–no matter how great our sin. Praise God!

John 17

Today we read John 17. When earthly kings are glorified, we might think of crowns and gold and splendor. In John 17, Jesus explains that God the Father is about to glorify Him, the eternal King–on the cross. This concept is difficult to understand. Nevertheless, Jesus is about to take this painful glorification upon Himself–to save *you* from the consequences of your sin, from eternal death, and from the devil. How wonderful! Thank you, Jesus!
